Dr. Vitale

I graduated from the University of Illinois, College of Veterinary Medicine in 1995. Immediately out from school I took a position at a large, 24-hour veterinary hospital as an emergency veterinarian. This experience was tremendously rewarding for the diversity and complexity of cases I was exposed to. This gave me the chance to become comfortable with a broad range of medical and surgical cases, as well as dental care. It became apparent that I was looking for a more prolonged relationship with the patients and clients, which is something the emergency room did not provide. After 9 years in emergency medicine I changed to a daytime general practitioner. Since that time I have been able to focus on the lifelong relationships with his patients that are most satisfying to me, and ultimately, my clients.

I continue to have an interest in emergency medicine, though this is augmented by an interest in preventative medicine and wellness care. I appreciate the opportunity to get to know the clients and their pets well enough to develop a personalized plan for health care for each patient.

In the spring of 2008, I fulfilled a dream of practice ownership by opening the Sun Prairie Pet Clinic, Inc. I hope to establish a lifelong relationship with my clients, my new neighbors, and my new hometown.

Recently I was the 2011 Best Veterinarian in Sun Prairie by the readers of the Sun Prairie Star newspaper.   This is the second year in a row for me and the Sun Prairie Pet Clinic.  I recognize that this is a team effort in every way, and I am grateful to the staff for their dedicated efforts and to all of the clients that voted for us to receive this award again.  As always, we will look to exceed your expectations in the future.

I am a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the Wisconsin State Veterinary Medical Association, and the American Animal Hospital Association. I am certified to perform PennHIP evaluations for canine hip dysplasia.

When not in the clinic, I enjoy spending any free time with my wife Angie and our children Mark and McKenna. If there is any time left after that I has been known to run, bike, or rollerblade (anything for a little sun!), and read here and there.
